Gear Transmission Lubricating Oil: The Key to Ensuring Smooth Transmission

In the field of mechanical transmission, gear transmission is widely used, and choosing the appropriate lubricating oil is of crucial importance.

Gear transmission lubricating oil, referred to as gear oil, is used to lubricate various mechanical gear transmission devices. It is composed of mineral oil-based or synthetic base oils and additives, and is divided into vehicle gear oil and industrial gear oil.

Vehicle gear oil is used in variable speed devices and related components of automobiles, construction machinery, etc., while industrial gear oil is suitable for various transmission devices under various load conditions.

Gear transmission has different types, such as parallel axis, intersecting axis and crossed axis transmission, and each type includes a variety of specific methods. Its characteristics and working conditions determine the importance of gear oil. Gear transmission is highly efficient, but has poor oil wedge conditions, small contact area, high unit contact pressure, as well as line contact and sliding contact, and the oil temperature is greatly affected by the environment.

Gear oil plays multiple roles in transmission. It can reduce wear, lower friction, dissipate heat, prevent rust and corrosion, reduce noise and vibration, and flush out dirt.

Due to different purposes and conditions of use, there are specific requirements for the performance of gear oil. It should have good oiliness and extreme pressure anti-wear properties. By adding active substances and extreme pressure additives, an effective oil film is formed to prevent wear. Good viscosity-temperature characteristics can adapt to temperature changes, and both high viscosity and low viscosity have their advantages. Good low-temperature fluidity can ensure smooth cold start, and good thermal oxidation stability can extend the oil change period. In addition, rust and corrosion prevention and anti-foaming properties are also indispensable. The former protects gears from rust, and the latter reduces foam generated by stirring.

In conclusion, the appropriate gear oil can ensure the stable operation and long-term use of the gear transmission device.
